What is it? (A Riddle)

Every year it gains as many young as it loses old (more or less).

No-one there seems to age. And then suddenly you realize that they all have.

At the end of it, there is ritualized paper-based torture.

Everyone's favorite time is when it's closed.

You often work more when you're away from it than when you're there.

20% of the time you spend there is spent walking from one place to another.

The other 80% is spent sitting. (Mostly wishing you were walking somewhere else.)

Everything you ever produce there will eventually be thrown away.

At this place, you are expected to respect people who often don't respect you back.

Most of them have management structures like defunct corporations from the 1970s. Or the Roman army.

The whole point of it is not to need it anymore.

If you spend your time there wisely, you will be set.

The bad stuff fades and the good stuff stays.

You will remember it for the rest of your life.
